SOS Online Backup: Four-Time PC Mag Editor’s Choice Award Winner

November 9, 2011

Last week PC Mag published this glowing review of the new SOS Online Backup Home Edition product. We were very proud of the praise, needless to say. This week we’re ecstatic to announce that we’ve won PC Mag’s Editor’s Choice Award for Online Backup for the fourth time.

PC Mag reads:”

“With its intuitive and well-though-out interface, reasonable price covering five PCs, Live Protect feature, versioning, top performance and many more unique capabilities, SOS Online Backup Home Edition remains our Editors’ Choice for personal online backup, and continues to add to its lead.”

See the announcement in StreetInsider and the review on PCMag.com.

The past 30 days have been very eventful for SOS! We’ve announced SOS Online Backup Home Edition, SOS ServerSave, and won the PC Mag Editor’s Choice Award.

Since 2006, SOS has been known as the technology leader in online backup. We’re working hard to continue that trend and delivery the best possible security, design, forward thinking, and customer service to our customers and the cloud backup industry.

PC Mag Reviews SOS Online Backup’s Newest Home Edition : SOS Vs Mozy Vs Carbonite

November 2, 2011

PC Mag keeps their reviews simple, concise, and clean – we here at SOS appreciate that. PC Mag published its review of SOS Online Backup’s newest home edition yesterday, with this glowing assessment:

SOS Online Backup may be the very best way to protect your precious personal data, storing secure versions offsite. Now it’s faster than the competition, and Facebook backup and good iPhone and Android apps are worthy plusses.

Thanks PC Mag! You can read the entire review here.

PC Mag even tested out our speed:

SOS claims faster performance in this version, and my testing bore this out. I backed up just under 10GB of documents, photos, music, and more—5712 files in all. The backup started at 6:10 p.m. and completed the next morning at 12:38 a.m.—just 6 hours and 28 minutes, over an admittedly fast corporate Internet connection. SOS claims it now allows up to 5Mbit/sec transfers and has done testing showing that a job that took 23 and a half hours in SOS took more than 33 hours for Mozy, and more than 56 hours with Carbonite.

PC Mag knows us well, they sum up the review by reminding us all “Save yourself with SOS”.

With its intuitive and well-though-out interface, reasonable price covering five PCs, Live Protect, versioning, top performance and many more unique capabilities, SOS Online Backup Home Edition remains our Editors’ Choice for personal online backup, and continues to add to its lead. If you just need to protect one PC with unlimited lot more storage, you may be happier with an unlimited competitor like Carbonite, but you’ll miss out on a lot of very useful tools and faster speed SOS offers.

PC Mag: SOS Online Backup Adds Facebook Backup

October 13, 2011

PCMag.com covered our announcement of our newest SOS Online Backup version. They (like us and a lot of you) are quite excited about our Facebook app!

Check out their article here: SOS Online Backup Adds Facebook Backup

What’s the motivation for these new offerings? “We’re seeing more and more of our users’ data sitting in different spots,” said Shaw. “A lot of data is starting to accumulate in mobile devices and in various cloud accounts, with Google Apps and Facebook being in the lead. With version 5, we’ve got solutions for all of that data.”

With so many people storing so much personal data on Facebook these days, it makes sense to have some insurance against losing all of it in the case of hacking. Or you may just move to a new social network platform some day and want to take the Facebook content with you. SOS Social Backup is tailor made for these cases. It backs up your Friends, photos, wall posts, messages, and video. After you’ve set it up, you can browse or restore any of the saved information.

Of course, you can always download a free trial for home users at our website SOSOnlineBackup.com.
